the STORE in summit mall

the sarabat stall opposite the hotel did not open, maybe it's hari raya haji today. so they had to look for a makan place for their breakfast on their way to the golf club. they stopped over in LEE KOON restaurant, selling yong-tau-fu noodle. each had their bowl of yong-tau-foo and a bowl of noodle, one had rat's tail, one had normal yellow noodle, one had beehon and one had koayteow. the yong-tau-foo was good, he ordered another bowl. following the detailed directions given by greg, the carlton star manager, they arrived at seremban international golf club with no problem at all.

tee-off at at 9.10am.

after the game they drove to batu pahat. they got into town at 6pm, since along the way, there was big rain.

the were discussing whether to check out crystal inn when they noticed katerina hotel was just another stone-throw away. since philip and hs happened to know the manager of this hotel, mr razak in a previous inter-club golf game, and he promised to give discount if they ever come to stay, so they checked out katerina instead. and they did get their discount and the rate came down to rm160, which is reasonable for a 4-star hotel.

after an "expansive" abalone dinner in seaview restaurant, they had some shopping done in summit parade mall which was next to crystal inn.

when they walked into Crystal inn to check out the rate - it's only rm105, much cheaper than katerina even with the discount. and crystal inn was not anything shabby. so sometimes a good acquaintance does not mean a good deal!

but do you befriend for monetary benefits?

seremban - daily report

tiara golf club panoramic view

they had breakfast in the hotel, checked out and made it to the tiara golf club before 9am. the day was very sunny and hot. it burnt. but rain came at the last hole.

after the game, they drive to seremban. checked in the carlton star hotel in the town. and went around the area to look for a place for dinner. the saleslady in the STORE told them just nearby there's a good chinese restaurant. they hopped into KONG MENG restaurant and ordered hockien big-noddle, stewed song fishhead, sambai kangkong, king spare-ribs, and kailan. but instead of kailan, they were served with fried lettuce. anyway it was good.

after dinner, colin asked to keep the bill. hs noticed that colin liked to keep all the bills, whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or coffee break.... hs was curious, "why you want to keep all the bills?"

"hehe.... i have to report to my wife all my whereabouts of the days.... and bills showing the timings are my alabi."

air keroh - young at heart

they took off from singapore at 7.45am, drove all way the rnr station in machap, and had their tea break. then drove for another 2 hours to arrive at air keroh and spent 30 minutes to find the direction to the air keroh golf club. it was was noon time. satrted t-off at 12.30pm. the sky was overcast for most of the afternoon. they finished playing the 18 holes after 5pm. was going to book a hotel in downtown malacca, but on the way, they found king's hotel about 8km from downtown malacca, and checked in.

they had dinner in a chicken rice restaurant in donwtown malacca.

and they hard an early nite. and that's the first day of their south malaya golf tour.

philip, his fren introduced him to two sia retirees - hs lee, 66, and colin ng. the thin and petite hs was all fire in his demeanor, talked a lot, and always gave his opinion, and talked straight and unfretted. whereas colin, 64 had steady pear-shaped built. spoke calmly, and always tried be analytical. together with philip, 73, they had quite a partnership in their golf games. all of them belonged to changi golf club. and they used to play in the club quite often.

at dinner time, colin ordered his favorite condiment - freshly cut green chilly paddie, he ate them like candy. but hs would not want to touch a tinge of anything spicy

"wow, you really chilly eater!"

"i like only green chilly paddie."

"why?"

"young and hot. that's my taste!"

"young at heart, pluck green nuts. super smart!"

sentosa - barclay singapore open

"wao, -6, mardan tetap boleh!" he was excited that mardan was playing very well, when he caught up with mardan's flight at hole 16, and chatted up with the score-board holder.

"memang!"

hole 16 was a short par 4, and mardan's second shot landed at the back of the green. his chip fell short of the hole by 15 feet, and he missed his par putt.

he parred the next hole.

the last hole was played under twilight. he laid up in this par 5 hole. his third shot hit the ridge of the green and the slope did not do him any favor, the ball rolled unstoppably into the pond in front of the green. he boogied again; giving up 2 shots in 3 holes, and ended up the round 1-under and 4-under aggregated after two rounds. could have done better, mardan. but not bad to make the cut.

moral of the story - like tackling a woman, do not count the score when the ball is still outside the hole.

borocay - who has the last laugh?

susan, a bubbly, just-graduated-from-college, try-hard-to-slang-like-a-westerner and naturally happy damsel has been at the helm of the hotel for 2 months. and she said, everything ran fine. there was a few little things she had to worry about, but they got taken care of pretty easily. her uncle has been running the hotel since her mother migrated to new zealand sometime ago with her new zealander step-dad. she has a brother doing accountancy in a manila uni.

life in boracay is expensive and quite boring, so they wanted to sell the resort and move back to palawan, their hometown where her uncle has his family.

there was an australian, interested in the property, but was too steep in their offer. the deal did not go thru.

"how's the guests here so far?" he asked.

"very good. though we had a couple making very unreasonable requests."

"what requests?"

"like one, asking me to sleep with him."

"oh... that's kinky.... did you?"

"of course NO. i gave him back his deposit and told him to sleep somewhere else."

"you can do that?"

"if you offend a lady, she can do anything."

"pretty fierce lady ha..."

"mr. don't try me. ok?"

"no. i wouldn't dare to even if i have tried all the ladies in the world."

"now, are you saying i am like a witch?"

"well, not without a broom."

"ok, who needs a broom. since you think i'm not good at man, let's sweep the room tonite together, rolling over the floor.... and see what i can do....."
