man aspires!
for marathon man, one of his aspirations was to find a way into the thick trees to look at the lake next to bedok reservoir - the tampines quarry park. for a couple of years since he knew of its existence, he had tried to see whether there's any path that led to the lake. he seemed to find some path at almost the end of the road that's parallel to tampines ave 3. but looking at the not-so-obvious trail that's decorated with colorful "flags" on the trees, it didn't look safe to step forward. not until now, the area was under a big development project; bulldozers were busy flatening the trees and digging out trenches.... and the path had become clear. so he walked inside. and lo and behold, a placid lake appeared infront of him. a group of 4 people came later, with their remote control boats. there was a heap of fired left-over, still smoudering with food half eaten - somebody just had a bbq feast at the lake side.
the lake, filled to the brim with clear water, surrounded by trees, was a life by itself, so self-assured yet so vulnerable.
he went a short distance around the lake side. met a couple of guys rod-fishing. and there's another guy, rode his bike from another path, parked it by the tree and made his way by foot into the jungle.
then a fish was hooked, a small little chap. the guy loosened the hook and let it go.
marathon man stayed for while, soaking in the tranquility of the surroundings, a world away from the hustle-buzzles of the other world.
then he left.
for a while, he thot he could take possesion of the lake. but it would belong to nobody if everybody is quick to own it!
