lenon - fly a kite

lenon, a kite-surfing instructor from england is here for 6 months as a kite-surfing trainer. he needs a place to stay for the next 6 months, and still looking for it.

the hotel owner, rachel asked, "how do you find this hotel?"

"not bad. but i have another fren who's coming later, and we plan to stay together. so have to ask him."

"oh.... if you plan to stay here for long term, i could give a big discount on the roomrate."

"we'll see."

"is this the first time in boracay?"

"no. i was here last year."

"how did find it?"

"well.... pity a nice place like this cannot avoid the fate of depriving itself of the reason for for its own existence."

"what do you mean?"

"like a lot of tourist destinations, particularly, dive-sites, environmental damaged, especially to the marine lives are extensive. and who am to talk like that, being one of the culprits of this process?"

"we hotel operators also guilty of not doing enough to preserve what get us here."

"it should be concerted effort among all people who has a stake either as someone egging out a living from it, or someone taking a bite of it for enjoyment and the authority to make sure that whatever going around has to be sustainable."

"agree."

" i would suggest we shut down all activities on boracay for a year, and let the marine life take a breather to replenish themselves. meanwhile we could think about what to do to preserve marine lives better, before going into the rampage again."

"then what are we going to do if the resorts are shut down?"

"go fly a kite!"

boracay beach - tattoo gal

"what tattoo are you doing?"

"'cindy loves mick'."

"oh.... your boy fren must be very happy that you put down his name on your body."

"it's deal. he had my name tattooed on him also."

"what happened if you and him didn't make it somehow? are you going to erase the tattoo?"

"haha... no. just add 'ey' behind and it would read 'cindy loves mickey', and tattoo and mickey mouse beside. everything will look normal again."

boracay - atv ride

they went for a one-hour atv(all-terrain vehicle) ride, and it was quite fun, though not much to see. only stopped over in the aviary farm and the view deck above a hotel.

boracay - island hopping

hopping around boracay island on a bangka is a tourist must-do activity. they stopped over in coral gardens for snorkeling, all corals were dead. they move to the crystal cove, where there quite a few structures with the outer walls inlaid with shells, and two caves that led to the sea, with waves rushing into the caves making huge splashes. but the by-passed the crocodile island because according to the boatman, the currents there were very wrong, not advisable to snorkel. then they headed for the shore to do a bit swim, before heading back to the town at about 4pm.

boracay - the paradise island?

boracay - voted several times the best beach beach in the world, has had its days. now, it's just another so-so tourist destination; the 4-km-long beach still has its charm, but the waters around has died down a lot, with corals almost all wiped out. the accommodation in the vicinity of the beach has a lot to ask for; the pavements mostly worn and torn with some parts ponded when it rains, sewage was so bad that, you could smell the stink in the middle of a silent nite.

many years ago, he was here, and it was a different island then. with the sea teemed with lives, the land was only sparsely populated with cosy resorts....

who is to blame for its down-turn?

quick profits, and no long-term vision. it could have been the bahamas of the east. but soon it would be the harlem of the pacific.
