shiling nite market - big biscuit, small biscuit
somebody said, shiling nite market had shifted.
he was curious to find out. he took a cab, and it stopped at the same old place where the nite market used to be. and the nite market was still at the same place... people, goods, shouts, the place was as buzzling as anytime. only when he wondered into one of the side streets, he was pleasantly surprised that he was actually entering into the so called NEW nite market. shiling nite market had not shifted, but a new sheltered block with 300 stalls had been built next to the market. and under this building, a food court serving the local street food catered for foodies.
he was tempted by the local food like oyster misua, beef noodle, sausages, love-jade jelly... but he was restraint to dig into any by his still-full tummy. only when he saw some stalls selling small biscuits wrapped in big biscuits, he queued up to try one. by the look of it, the so-called biscuit was like curry puff, much with the skin looked much crispier. and he was wondering how did they wrap the small biscuit into the big one.
wonder no more - they were actually crushing the small crispy biscuit and wrapping it with a wrapper, like that for popiah, but much thicker. and there's no filling in the small biscuits, all carbo-fried flour, sprinkled with black pepper or peanut as choice.
it was disappointing treat!
