it's not quiet, but serene - with the hum of the nearby higway traffic
it's not familiar , but intimate - with the water just beside the road.
it's not remote, but removed - with a journey of less than an hour from any corner of singapore....

tis was the first time he was in mandai reservoir doing a thorough walk around it. , he liked the place. entered thru the mandai road, walked the dike and came out from the executive golf course.
when he was at enterance of the golf course, he snapped a picture of a couple. said, "good morning."
they stopped. the man said, "good morning, take a picture of the lady, first."
she stopped, posed. he snapped her.
he said, "my wife likes to take pictures.... take another one."
"enough, car is coming." she said
the car stopped, the driver wound up the window, said, "hay lady, they said, a picture tells a thousand stories, and i would say, a lady stops a thousand cars...."pointing to the cars lining behind him.
