whether egypt got an islamic government, or taiwan going the way of independence has practically nothing to do with your life, why then you are wary of these things? why let yourself be partial? why not stay impartial?
human psyche is that he cannot be impartial - he has to be the judge all the time.
will that be too tiring? all the time, have to put your favor into one side or another. can't you let your judgement be reserved for something more pertinent to yourself?
freedom is a big word - fairness is another one - how about righteousness?
all these are ideas human upholds. so he will try to apply his own std of these values on things that he encounters.
somehow, man's genes are programmed to react to all stimulus from outside. too sensitive to these stimulus will pose a big problem to him. he'll be very unstable emotionally; angry, exhilarated, sad, happy over minor incidences..... will be emotionally drained very early in his life. if not, will be someone like hitler, if he's made his way up to the top......
