kaohsiung - tan kuku

hi-lai hotel 39th floor, facing the kaohsiung harbor, as a guest of a big taiwanese company, treatment by the hotel obviously was upgraded just because he got the booking thru this big company.

after the meeting in the morning in tainan science park, he took a taxi to kaohsiung.

the driver was very talkative. and very loud and opinionated. he fvcked chen suipian for his corruption, fvcked tainan city council for not taking good care of the recreational fishing grounds(the lakes in science park, the creeks....). there're many rules for those real fishing enthusiasts like him, but there's no law to stop people using the net. hence all fishes in his favorite sites are gone now.

it's a sunny and hot day in kaohsiung. he took a walk about the harbor, taking pictures of the new-year fair there. many food-stalls and a big performing stage. the LOVE river bank was also significantly decorated.

he came back to hotel at 7pm, washed up and headed to 43th floor, the harbor view restaurant for its famous international buffet. though the food spread was good and fresh, for the last 3 days he's been having buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner.... they were all the same.

at 9pm, firework display at the harbor. everyday for the period of the fair.

kaohsiung - the bastion for the green party, a city famous for its tantan noodle and tan kuku.... waiting for the arrival of the peace that lasts.

as the taxi driver said, "taiwanese always has the fear of getting into war with mainland china...."

the taiwanese value their democratic freedom, they are proud of being using their own ingenuity and sweats to conquer the world in many industries.... they view their mainland counterparts as uncivilized, undemocratic, unrelated, to a large extend.

china has made big strides in economic development, what if politically, they also make the switch from communistic authoritarians, to some form of westernised democratic disposition, and allow people in taiwan and hongkong and macau to be voted into the central power circle - would that be enough to persuade the hard-core independence supporter to give up their ideals?

like the jasmine revo and its after effects - nobody can predict.....
