hole 16 was a short par 4, and mardan's second shot landed at the back of the green. his chip fell short of the hole by 15 feet, and he missed his par putt.
he parred the next hole.
the last hole was played under twilight. he laid up in this par 5 hole. his third shot hit the ridge of the green and the slope did not do him any favor, the ball rolled unstoppably into the pond in front of the green. he boogied again; giving up 2 shots in 3 holes, and ended up the round 1-under and 4-under aggregated after two rounds. could have done better, mardan. but not bad to make the cut.
moral of the story - like tackling a woman, do not count the score when the ball is still outside the hole.
