deyi secondary school - nomination day

the sky opened for just a couple of minutes though it was still bright sunshine, at 10am, when he alighted at deyi secondary school, one of the 9 nomination centres for this coming election.

at 10.13am, down came the workers' party "A" team, from a bus in front of the school. mr low thia kiang fronted the team, with sylvia lim, chen show mao, mr pritam singh,and mr muhamad faisal manap.

then came the reform party team at 10.43am.

at 10.54am the pap team led by pm lee with wong kang seng, ng eng hen, seng han tong..... arrived. the pm looked shacked, with bulging reddish eyes, long face, as if ms ho did not give him the hole last nite, waving and giving a grin to the crowd along the way to the nomination hall.

right after, another george yeo wth his aljunied team arrived. by then the fact that low had made up his mind to contest in aljunied was confirmed, as it soon would be 11am, when candidates had to submit their election from, and low and his team had not appeared from the nomination hall.

slightly over 11am, a red beetle stopped infront of the school, somebody was helping chiam see tong to get out of his car. he obviously had difficulty to walk and talk after the stroke. but wise enough to avail himself to a grc instead of hiding in his potong pasir smc. as the singapore peopel's party were walking to the nomination hall, crowd going after the team shouted 'chima see tong, chiam see tong...."

all people crowded into the school field to wait for the announcement of the contesting teams by the returning officer, after 12.30pm. but it was to be until after 1pm.

each team contesting in a grc or smc had a couple of minutes to address their supporters after each announcement.

pap support all gathered at one side of the field wearing all white, holding up papa flags, while oppo supported occupied the other half of the field.

when wong kan seng was addressing his supporters, the oppo supporters shouted "mas selamat, mas selamat..."

the announcement finished at 1.36pm.

low and his team shook supporters hands at the exit of the field.

he shook sylvia and low's hands, who both were in high spirit because they felt that this time, the ground was sweet!
