played golf with 3 former vendors in occ. chu had been working in china for 5 years and now back to singapore. he is virtually retired, except for his new investment into a small company selling test accessories. loh had quit his job a few months ago and went into total retirement. doing - anything but work. and lim is still a young chap in his early 40's and raring to go all out to make it big.
chu said he met up with teik the other day. teik asked him to invest in his sarawak oil palm plantation, which teik and his brothers and a couple of former colleagues owned. chu did his due deligence by asking teik how he could get his money back and how soon. he did not get a satisfied answer from teik, so he did not invest. he said, teck told him, the plantation was brot over from a local owner, but the palm trees were obviously not fertilised enough, so the yield was poor, barely enough to pay back the loan they got from the bank. so teik decided to engage a local to look after the plantation and came back to singapore to work in an electronic trading company.
palm oil prices shot thru the roof.... some made it big, some had it big!
