bot a portable 500gb hard disk from challenger in clementi mall which had its opening ceremony yesterday. the mall is not that big, quite clamped. quite a few people.
the sales boy said, for the hard disk it's $59 for member, but $89 for non-member. to join as member for 2 years, need to pay $30. so he applied for membership on the spot.
clementi centre with the mall appeared so much different - too clamped up, but business had obviously gone for the better.
he had been living around the area for a couple of years quite some years ago. he came back every now and then to check out the changes in the area. the empty field next to the swimming pool had already been built up with hdb's, ave 1 also had quite many new buildings.
those years when he was renting a 4-room flat, commuting daily to work in ubi area, until the first mrt opened and he took the opening ride from clementi to toa payoh .... when mandai zoo seemed so far, and when he was still struggling hard on the brink of living..... before marathon man was even conceived.....
- but life was ok, then.
