toa payoh stadium PE rally - the singapore wen jiapao
the first ever presidential election rally was held in toa payoh stadium by tan jee say, the man who got the endorsement of almost all oppositions, an all-rounded man who is capable of doing the job of an active president well, who shld be able to inject new elements into the mostly ceremonial role of the president.
the stadium was 3/4 full, the atmosphere was not as heated as the wp rallies a few months ago, but the whole event was well planned and well presented and well received.
petrina kaw, the rodio mc was the mc of the event, and she sounded as clear and smooth as ever.
speakers ranged from daily friend to political friend to schoolmate to relative, to people who just wanted to land support for a man who is admirable and exemplary in his discourse and his demeaner.
the refrain, "we say, jee say, ho say!" was aptly sounded when occasion commanded.
there's obviosuly strong after-taste of the GE, people cheered when pappies were mentioned or implied in incidences that made them look bad.
- the wheel has been set rolling, history will be made again when a non-pappie tan, the singapore wen jiapao grabs the presidency on 27 aug 2011.
